Story Telling

Purpose: create a story to share orally

Description: Oral storytelling is a Maori tradition. We have been planning our own story to tell on the Marae in Week 7.

Big Idea: I am doing a Explanation story. This is like explaining why spiders have 8 legs but I am doing why cheetahs have black marks under there eyes.
Success Criteria:
  • Between 1 and 2 minutes long
  • Using your voice to make sounds effects
  • Using your whole body to make actions
  • Use your face to tell a story through facial expression
  • Knowing the story, knowing the setting
  • Get the picture into your listener’s head
  • Stay in character - keep your composure.
  • Audience participation
  • Unique and original (Hook your audience)





 Evaluation: I think that I need to work on making it more realistic and think about the amount of time I have and I really need to do more actions and Audience participation.

Feed Back/Feed Forward:
I think that you did a very good job at story telling I think that you were good at having a loud voice. But I think you need to work on crowd participation.#Aalaa

Bus Stop Writing

Purpose: Describe the characteristics of an object.

















Big Idea: The other day I was walking down the road and I saw a bus stop it looked amazingly strange! It was the front of a bus...
At a bus stop! I was amazed by this very creative umm bus stop I guess! It made me jump in surprise it is a strange thing of course. It looks a bit fancy don't you think?
I really wonder who had this amazing idea was it a incident I guess I will never know.

2 Stars And A Wish

We had to make a page in our think book and use it for our 2 stars and a wish! 2 stars mean the things I am proud of so far this year. The wish means something that I want to improve this year.

My Swimming 2015

Description: For a couple of weeks we have been doing some swimming for our swimming sports.
We practiced freestyle backstroke and we will be practicing breaststroke.



Big Idea: My swimming sports goal is to try beat at least one person in backstroke. I can do this by practicing a lot harder.My swimming goal's in our school pool is to not breath for so long in freestyle. I can do this by kicking and moving my arms a lot  faster. My other goal is to take three strokes then a breath. I can do this by counting in my head. And my las goal is to not let water go up my nose. I can do this by breathing out through my nose.

Ok this is my swimming last day!

My other goal is to take three strokes then a breath.Well I did that too HIP HIP HOORAY!!! And my last goal is to not let water go up my nose. Well you can not really control that.

Evaluation: I think that I am improving on how long I can breath underwater. I think that I am Improving on not letting water get up my nose as well.

Stuck Movie

Description: On Monday, we watched a really funny movie about 2 people who get stuck on an escalator. Have you seen it?  we watched a really funny movie about 2 people who get stuck on an escalator. Have you seen it?




Big Idea: We think that we can relate the message in this movie to our learning...Its like being stuck in our learning, we need to ask for help and we need to look for ways to solve the problem ourselves. We thought it would be fun to make our own movie to get this message across. We had 2 groups of criteria for our movie...

Criteria: (Content)
  • Video - 30 seconds long, time is limited. 
  • Scenario - Show someone being stuck and not using the ability to act. 
  • Clear Message - Short sharp clip. Can the watcher get the point of your video?
  • Unique - Coming up with something funny that gets a laugh from others. 
  • Time Passing - Do you need to show time passing in your clip to emphasise your message. 

Criteria: (Movie)
  • Light - Make sure the sun isn’t creating a hard to see clip. 
  • Voice Volume - Needs to be louder than other background volume eg Noise, Kids.
  • Frame - What’s in the frame to make your message obvious. 
  • Steady Hands - Make sure the camera is still. 
  • Individual Clips - Don’t do one continuous shot of 30 seconds. Make a range of short clips and join together. 




Feedback/Feedford:Very entertaining Olivia that is because you had very good acting in your roll. But you could of done your video when it was lunch time and when the bell rung. #Amy

That Was Me Growing Up

Purpose: To share memories from my childhood.

We had to write a story in our class about growing up. I had fun writing because I have funny memories. These are my story's hope you enjoy:

Remember going to Australia meeting all of the animals and holding the scaley slimy baby Crocodiles?
 At first I thought that they were going to nibble my little finger off!
Later on we walked down the path and saw a Elephant.
We walked further and fed the Koalas.
 We walked even further and saw the Kangaroos after that some kind people gave us some Kangaroo food and we fed the Kangaroos.
(I was afraid that the Kangaroos were going to punch me to the floor!)

Remember moving house from Wellington? Being in the car covered with towels!
Then getting there and falling asleep!
 So when we woke up we were in a strange new house I got a fright at first but after a while I got used to it.
That was me growing up!


2015 Math Test!!!

Description: This Year A Whole New Test Is Coming To Russell St School...
We have been doing some tests to find out what we need to get better at these were knowledge tests we need to know these things within 3 seconds. This also determines our goal this year. 

My goal: Is to be able to answer multiplication and division facts fast and easy at least under 3 seconds!

I am going to achieve these goals by going home and practicing them every day.
I will try to achieve these goals at least by the end of the month or the tearm more like the end of the month
